Safety For Supervisors
Together, we will explore the “New View of Safety” versus “Traditional Safety”. How your role as a leader will have a strong influence on your safety results and culture at your facility. This will not be the repeat Safety Leadership training concentrating on the programs you will need to support. Instead we will touch on your core safety responsibility such as risk assessment (JSA), incident investigation, how to conduct safety meetings/talks, etc. but we will spend more time understanding how to incorporate Todd Conklin’s 5 Principles of Human Performance to maximize your results and provide you with the tools to lead your employees in a highly successful safety program. This training takes into accounts some of the most current safety leader’s views on Safety and on Human and Organizational Performance (HOP). After over 30 years our incident rate of recordable accidents have steadily decreased but our fatality and serious injury rates have stayed for the most part stagnant. As leaders, we can make a difference by changing our approach to safety.
5 Principles of Human Performance:
· Error is Normal – Even the BEST makes mistakes
· Blame Fixes Nothing
· Learning & Improving is VITAL – Learning is deliberate
· Context influences Behavior – Systems drive outcomes
· How you respond to failures matters – How Leaders act and respond COUNTS
