THE LOFTS PROJECT IN SARANAC LAKE AWARDED $6.5 MILLION

The North Country Chamber applauds the announcement of $6.5 million in state funding for the Lofts project in Saranac Lake. Parkview/Kearney Group will now be able to proceed with the construction of a pair of buildings downtown, creating 70 apartments (with plans to attract a number of artists in particular) along with commercial space. It is a transformative project that the Chamber was pleased to support as a priority affordable housing project in our region in communications with the state. We congratulate the developers and particularly the Village of Saranac Lake and the Franklin County Economic Development Corp., and we thank Governor Hochul and HCR for their commitment and funding.  Thanks as well to Assemblyman Billy Jones and Senator Dan Stec for their advocacy. This project approval follows on the heels of recent state funding for the also transformative Harison Place Project by Citizen Advocates in Malone. Onward and upward!
