Literacy Volunteers of Clinton, Essex, and Franklin Counties' Students receive Student of the Year Awards

Literacy Volunteers of Clinton, Essex, and Franklin Counties' two students receive statewide recognition. Jiranan Chatayan Quesnel and Linda Suthamma were honored in the Capital Region on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, as Students of the Year by the New York Association for Continuing and Community Education (NYACCE). NYACCE is a statewide association that provides information and support for professionals serving the needs of life-long learners.
On Tuesday, October 25, 2022, Jiranan Chatayan Quesnel and Linda Suthamma were honored during an awards ceremony at The Century House in Latham, New York. Both awardees have been learners with LVCEF since 2020.
The Student of the Year award was suspended due to COVID. It is the first event since 2019. At this annual event, NYACCE recognizes remarkable students from across New York State with a dinner and awards ceremony on Tuesday night. On Wednesday, award winners and their guests receive a personalized tour of the New York State Capitol building.
This year, twenty-three students were selected as Student of the Year. Fiormelissa Johnson, Director of the Adult Education Program and Policy (AEPP), gave an opening address for the winners, their guests, and the NYACCE board and members.
On Wednesday, October 26, 2022, all the awardees and their guests toured the Albany Capitol, focused on civic engagement and state government.
